Glued Laminated Timber

SVEA expanded its core business, the raw wood production of timber, by offering flat glued laminated timber beams in the high price bracket.

Glulam timber can be distinguished by a pleasant appearance and is used in the construction of large-scale structures (up to 18 m). It has excellent fireproof characteristics, as its heat transfer index is some 300 to 400 times lower than steel. This is an important advantage in comparison to concrete and steel structures.

Glulam timber keeps the basic characteristics of wood, it has a pleasant appearance and is a high quality and sustainable product. It is in compliance with European standards, which have been permanently verified by the OTTO – GRAF institute from Stuttgart. For the manufacturing of glulam timber we use high quality dried wood, with a moisture content of some 15%, which means that there is no need for biocide pre-treatment.

The timber is properly dried, assuring that no splits or cracks will occur on the surface. They are glued with transparent glue so the joints are almost invisible.
